Gardening Club

Mickleton Gardening Club (www.mickletongc.org.uk)

Mickleton Gardening Club was founded in 1980, and continues today to welcome like-minded members from Mickleton, Stratford and Evesham, and all the villages around, who enjoy gardening and listening to, and sharing, others’ experiences of gardens and gardening. Our meetings at King George’s hall are on the third Wednesday of every month when we welcome a speaker on a gardening related theme. As well as free entry to meetings and free refreshments, Membership also comes with a discount at local garden centres, including TOPS, Hidcote and Batsford. Visitors are welcome to any monthly meeting for a small fee.

Our annual flagship event is the Summer Show, at which anyone, not only Gardening Club Members, can enter their garden produce, plants, flowers, baking and handicrafts in the hope of winning one of the Silver Cups available for each category

Other annual activities include ”Open Gardens” which is open to all Club members, an enjoyable occasion when a few members kindly invite the rest of us to visit their gardens.

We organise several outings a year to larger inspirational gardens in the wider area and to Gardening Shows large or small and there is an annual inter-club quiz against other local Gardening Groups.

Gardening Club members are responsible for ensuring the 7 village planters are replenished in Spring and Autumn and children and young people are encouraged and supported to garden via our collaboration with Mickleton Young Gardeners.

Our gardening year finishes off with the AGM, where, as well as electing officers we look back at the past year, and the promise of the next, with a “potluck” buffet and quiz – on a gardening theme of course.

We distribute a monthly newsletter to keep members informed of events and this information can also be found on our website at www.mickletongc.org.uk
