Parish Church of St. Lawrence

St. Lawrence Church is at the heart of the village and you can expect a warm welcome if you join us for worship. We are a loyal and friendly congregation.

We are joined to the neighbouring churches in Chipping Campden and Ebrington and are part of the wider Vale and Cotswold Edge Team and looked after by the Rev. Craig Bishop who lives in Chipping Campden. We have a friendly relationship with the Mickleton Methodist Church and regularly share worship with them. We have a successful team of Bell Ringers, who would look forward to welcoming experienced Ringers or those wishing to learn.

The church spire, with its newly gilded cockerel, can be seen throughout the village and from the Cotswold scarp that rises behind the church. St. Lawrence’s has been a place of worship for over a thousand years. There was a church here in 960, for there is a record saying that in that year King Edgar gave the patronage of Mickleton to one Brithnotus. How far the Christian history of Mickleton goes back before 960 we do not know. The oldest parts of the present Church are Norman but it has been altered and added to over the years. A new stained glass window was installed in 2012 to commemorate the diamond jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Please do introduce yourself, we look forward to getting to know you.
