Theatregoers Club

New to the village? So were we all once!

And we found the Theatregoers Club the friendliest way to meet a range of folk around the village.

The only thing we have in common is an interest in ‘The Performing Arts’.  The club is open to anyone resident in the parish of Mickleton.

What do we do?

We arrange visits to plays, musicals, concerts, operas, ballet – in fact almost anything cultural – to theatres within reasonable travelling time of Mickleton: Malvern, Warwick, Cheltenham, Evesham, Birmingham, Coventry, Oxford, Bath – or even Stratford upon Avon!

We attend a Christmas celebration and of course have an annual pilgrimage to a lively and vibrant pantomime (‘Oh no it isn’t!’ ‘Oh yes it is!’) at the fabulous Chipping Norton Theatre.

We sometimes attend matinees linked to a ‘day trip’ to a major city, but most shows take place in the evening. We always provide transport by coach or Hedgehog bus, the cost being included in the price of the ticket for the show.

We have a long-suffering committee (what village organisation doesn’t?) and a dedicated team of Reps each with a particular ‘patch’ in the village. The Reps deliver fliers and tickets (and collect money!) They become your first ‘port-of-call’ – a friendly face!

The Club now has over 140 members and continues to grow in popularity. In fact, such is the strength of friendships forged that some (older?) members now only attend the theatrically- themed AGM, Annual Dinner and Quiz!
